What is the format of the book?

The book will be a collaborative publication, or 'edited' book. It will be divided into sections and topics, of which you can view here. It will share similarities with a scientific journal, which will be written by a carefully selected collection of individuals or group of authors, but will be somewhat less academic. Hopefully, we can make it fun, just as informative and even more innovative due to the faster turn around time!

Can I use information from other works?

Yes, with the authors permission, and as long as it is correctly referenced. Please refer to our reference guide if you are unsure how to reference works correctly. Please be aware that we are protected by Turnitin, and we ensure all articles are checked thoroughly for plagiarism. Any breach of the site's terms of use will not be taken lightly.

Will my name will be on the front cover?

Significant contributors will be given proportional credit where it is due, and may feature on the cover of the book. However, as an edited publication, usually only the editors and sometimes the largest contributing authors will feature on the front cover.

All articles accepted into the book will however be addressed with the author’s name. Featured authors will also be given a short space at the start/end of the book for a brief personal description or dedication, providing it is reasonable and does not include any offensive or obscene content.

Will I earn anything from having my article accepted?

Not exactly. Although there are no plans for the first edition to be sold with a profit, further additions or publications may be priced to give authors a small 'thank you' reward. The percentage of the authors cut will be proportionate to the number of works submitted, and will be shown on the members dashboard area. So for the time being, you won't receive any financial earnings, but you will have the satisfaction of being a published author!

Will I get discount on the book?

No, but you will have the chance to purchase a limited edition print at the standard book price.

Do you take a cut of any profits?

No, the price of the book will be set at a base price that only just covers all necessary printing, publishing and distribution costs. As a rough guide, the book should sell at around £11 UK, $15 US and $24 CA.

Where will the book be sold?

This depends on the popularity of the book. Initially, it will only be sold through online sales outlets, such as Amazon. The book will have an official ISBN so sales will not just be limited to online retailers and could in the future make it to your local book store through purchased shelf space.

We will endeavour to ensure that all included authors, interested parties, academics, friends, and family will have access to purchase of the book. If possible, we will also try to cut out the 'middle man' where we can, and offer sales of the book directly through this website with accepted PayPal payments.

I'm looking to sponsor or donate to the project, what do I do?

The project is encapsulated, so any funds gained through sponsors or donations will go directly to project cost, or extra related purchases if there is any money left over after publication; such as purchased shelf space or reducing the cost of the limited edition print for the authors involved. Significant sponsors may feature on the book cover, however this will be open to discussion.

What will the cover look like?

We have not yet taken time to discuss the book cover, as we wish to get the contents finalised first. However, we will likely put ideas for the design out to our project members for consideration. Although we have contacts who are professional graphics designers, if we have any available funds, we may pay for an external design team to keep a level of professionalism in the project.

With new digital technology like the internet, why bother with a printed book?

Print publications generally carry a higher level of regard, due to lineage of authorship and increased accountability. Due to their solidity and lack of editability, books are usually put through rigourous assessment, which online content is not normally subject to. But it's not just about status; books hold a romance for some people, and a lasting legacy.
